Dear Colleagues and friends, December 14th-17th 2009, an international congress on “Susa and Elam. Archaeological, Philological, Historical and Geographical Perspectives” will be held at Ghent University within the framework of the IAP Research Project “Greater Mesopotamia. Renconstruction of its Environment and History” coordinated by M. Tanret. The aim of this congress is to investigate – exactly 20 years after the 36th Rencontre Assyriologique Internationale entitled “Mésopotamie et Elam” held at Ghent University – the present state of affairs on our knowledge of the Elamite and Susean society from the archaeological, philological, historical and geographical point of view. These studies have recently regained more interest amongst young (and a little less young) scholars and our aim is to bring together all our colleagues who work on these subjects as well as on the relations between Mesopotamia and Elam in the 3rd, 2nd and 1st millennium BCE. The complete program and other information can be found on http://www.susa-elam.ugent.be/ For more information and questions, please contact Katrien De Graef (Katrien.Degraef@ugent.be) or Jan Tavernier (Jan.Tavernier@uclouvain.be). Kind regards, Katrien De Graef (Universiteit Gent) and Jan Tavernier (Université Catholique de Louvain)
